Blogging... I'm Not Convinced

I'm not convinced that this blog has helped me in any way. When I told a few close friends that I was thinking about doing this, they thought it was a great idea. But is it? I mean, it's not like I can just sit here and read this blog. Maybe someday I'll be able to, but not now. I don't feel it really helps me "work things out" either. I haven't had very many comments either, so it's not like I'm in the middle of some hip blogger scene. It's more like I'm just hiding in some dark corner of bloggerville, with a blog that people just happen to run into from time to time. I can use this blog to make people cry at will, but that's about it. The only think I ever think about, is that maybe K somehow found this blog, and maybe reading everything I've written in it, well make her want to be with me again. But it's pretty unlikely that she's found this, I've been very stealthy with it. And even if she has, is it going to change her mind? I don't think there's anything in here that I haven't already said to her. Maybe it's a little more verbose here but otherwise, I don't think theres anything new. So, in conclusion, I'm not sold on the idea of blogging your way through tough times. I don't think it works.

That said, I do have one more long article in me. I've been meaning to write it for months, but I haven't gotten it done. When I'm feeling good, I don't want to write it because I don't want to ruin a rare good mood. When I'm feeling bad, I don't want to write it because it will just make me feel worse. So it doesn't get written. But stay tuned, it is coming, and it might be my last entry.

  1. While I'm not sure if this is helpful, I figured you at least deserve to know that having a blog is a lot of work. You have to comment people, too - and not everyone is going to want to read multiple entries to/about a girl you lost. Whilst this is a really sweet idea, it's not really the type of blog people actually read - they like to read other things, too. I stumbled across yours by chance.

A blog isn't a personal journal/diary, so blogs that are treated like such tend to NOT receive any feedback. To get, you have to also give.

    1. Also, why not take what happened and use that as a lesson you needed to learn? While you're moping around via a blog about a girl you lost, there's some other girl in the world who's probably you're soul mate, if you believe in that stuff.

I'm not trying to come off as mean - I'm just trying to be helpful, because I've been down this road before. And it sucks.

  2. It takes a solid year or two to get your blog up to a status where a lot of people read it.

While it is true that I just stumbled upon your blog, and glanced at your entries without necessarily reading in depth into anything, I can tell that it's something you want to do.

My own blog is in a very obscure niche because it is about a game.. and will most likely never reach "hipster" status.

But you know what? It is ok :) Writing about something you want to share (regardless of whether anyone is reading) is about perseverance.

Think about a blog as a marathon.. a very long marathon.

As more and more people stumble upon your blog, you might reach the niche audience that is genuinely interested and will comb through your every post.

At the same time however, if you don't have a specific topic or subject worth commenting about, people won't. Your readership cannot be judged by the number of comments alone.

How often do you comment on things you read? Rarely if ever. Likewise, others do the same xD

    Cheers and good luck :)

  3. Hi,
I haven't read through all your posts, but only read this one. I do want to give some thoughts that may be useful to you.

It seems that you want this girl who has left your life (I don't know the details). It seems there are two options that you have here: either communicate with her and hopefully get her back or find another wonderful girl who does want to be with you.

No matter what you do or say, though, you can't force either girl to be in your life or to marry you (I recommend marriage as the goal if you want her in your life).

The most important thing I would suggest is to trust in God and get his help. If you don't believe in God, maybe it's time to reconsider. There is a God out there who created us (I know the current thinking is that evolution created us--but no one has proven it) and he loves us and cares for us.

He doesn't force his way into our lives, but when we sincerely look to him for help, trusting that he knows better than us, he will help. So of course that would start with praying to God and asking for his help. Also, ask what you need to do. As for getting answers, sometimes it can take people a while to feel confident that what they are seeing is his answer. So ask God also to help you to recognize his answers.

Also, to help you on a path to find and understand God, I recommend finding a good church. You can find out more about the one I believe in here: www.mormon.org

I recently started a blog too. Maybe you might find something useful there. AmericanMoralFoundation.blogspot.com

    Have a good day.
